Longmans, Green & Co, London, 1920 (First Edition). 32.5 x 27.0cms, two volumes, fully illustrated with many plates in colour, red canvas over boards, gilt-tooled single-fillet border along edges of front cover; title, volume number, & name of author & publisher in gilt to spines, with gilt-stamped flower, small worn patches on covers, spine ends worn, foxing on front & end pages. Very good copy. Containing information on all sorts of animals that can be found in different areas of Great Britain, including land mammals (shrews, moles, rats, bats, etc.) and water mammals (seals, dolphins, whales, etc.). Written and illustrated by Scottish artist Archibald Thorburn, who specialised in illustrating wildlife.
