Black and white tipped-in illustration plates throughout, each with tissue guard and picture title. Maps across endpapers. Rough cut edges to textblock. Pages remain bright and clean with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding remains firm. A previous owner's name to half-title page and name and minor pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. Small hole and cracking to rear joint. All surfaces tanned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is dulled but remains brighter on front. Boards are very slightly bowed.

A very good bright copy of this elusive first edition, first issue. Blue decorated boards, teg slight bump to top corner, map endpapers. Neat previous owner's name to half title. This is Andrew H. Dakers, who was Henry Williamson's literary agent, this volume from the estate of Henry Williamson. The six tipped in plates with tissue guards are correctly signed 'E.W.Haslehust' but the artist's name is spelt incorrectly on the List of Illustrations page "Hazlehurst". In Pursuit of Spring was Thomas' final work of prose and provides a delightful account of his week-long bicycle ride from central London out into the Quantock Hills in Somerset undertaken in March 1913, its publication was to lead Robert Frost to suggest that Thomas should write poetry. 301pp..

Publisher's blue cloth to boards, gilt titles, device, and rulings to upper and spine. Interior bright and clean with a spot of foxing, mostly to endpapers and preliminaries. Ownership inscription in black ink to half-title, dated 1928. Top edge toned, the rest slightly spotted. Toning to spine. Some rubbing to joints. Minor bumping and wear to cloth extremities. A very good copy of the earliest edition. The narrative account of Thomas's long cycling/walking trip from London to the Quantock Hills in the spring of 1913. Ernest Haslehust's name misspelled as 'Hazelhurst' on the 'List of Illustrations' page.
