It was written by the American author Irving Stone (1903-1989) and was his first book. It is based on the letters between Vincent and his brother Theo. It includes origin stories for many of Van Gogh's most famous paintings, and discusses his difficult life and success. The novel became an Oscar-winning film starring Kirk Douglas.This copy was printed in 1937 by the Heritage Press. It is bound in red leather with gold on the cover and spine. 400 pages, including illustrations. Bound-in silk bookmark.
This book has clearly never been read, or even opened. As you can see, it is missing a tiny piece of leather at the bottom of the spine. Other than that, it is in pristine condition.
