Description:
New York: E.P. Dutton, 1942. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. First edition. Illustrated by Woodi Ishmael. Foreword by Alexander William Armour. Introduction by Thomas Lomax Hunter. Fine in near fine dustwrapper with a very faint stain on the spine. Tribute by the author to a family retainer, "Uncle Woodson," born a slave at the author's family estate in Tidewater, Virginia. The book purports to retell the stories the author heard from him in boyhood with most of the book told in the dialect narrative of the subject. A very nice copy.
