One of 450 copies printed for friends of the University Printer as the Cambridge Christmas Book for 1953. 17 monotype faces discussed by Morison and printed in the face under discussion. Very slight use to the cloth, else a clean, near fine copy in archival mylar.

First edition limited to 450 copies, 8vo, pp. vii, [1], 101, [1]; printed in red and black; original terracotta cloth, gilt-stamped spine; binding slightly skewed and with light wear at the spine ends, otherwise very good and sound, but without the slipcase. From the library of Kim Merker. Each chapter of Morison's Tally is set in the appropriate typeface (17 in all). This is a Cambridge Christmas Book, printed by Brooke Crutchley who provides a Preface.

Cambridge: Privately Printed, 1953. Limited ed. 1953, one of 450 copies. First Edition, printed and bound at Christmas by the University Press, Cambridge, for presentation by the printer, Brooke Crutchley, to his friends in printing and publishing. Hardcover, red cloth, gilt title. Near Fine in original linen slipcase. 102 pp. Soft bump tot eh bottom corners; spine cloth sunned just a touch; very faint smudge to the title page. Strong binding; clean contents. Slipcase Fine. Bookplate of the former owner, John Rayner Esq., attached to the front pastedown. This copy also includes two TLSs laid-in, one from bookseller A. Zwemmer of London, the other from James Shand, proprietor of London's Shenval Press. Both letters are addressed to Rayner and regard procurement of this book. Shenval notes that he is lending Rayner his own personal copy, and that he should try Elkin Mathews, Quaritch or Maggs to find his own.
