Bound quite handsomely in publisher's original blue cloth bindings, sharp and distinct gilt border decorations to covers, gilt lettering to spines. Bookplates to front pastedowns of both volumes, some tape-removal shadowing present, toning recto to bookplates. All edges gilt, quite finely. Printed dust jackets present, moderately worn and soiled, a bit of sunning to spines, a bit of chipping to edges, but protected in plastic jackets that have done their jobs. All 4 volumes are in VERY GOOD condition showing marginal shelf rubbing along the extremities, the spine of Vol. 2 somewhat rubbed, endpapers ever so lightly toned, otherwise the bindings are strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct.
