Early (1850) Lancaster, PA ownerships, partially excised. 8vo. 235 mm. Leather binding poor - best be considered disbound. Pennsylvania German Dr. John Eberle (1787-1838) was a leading figure in American medical education and a one of the initiators of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. George M'Clellan (1796-1847) also taught (surgery) at Jefferson. This was a well-used all-in-one textbook of medicine. MED 10. No Binding. Fair.

Both front boards are detached, but present. Title on the spine has worn/rubbed off. Boards worn, with rear joints starting. Text generally clean, with the minor odd blemish. Volume 1 has some childish doodling on the front blank end paper. EBERLE, John, physician, born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, 10 December 1787; died in Lexington, Kentucky, 2 February 1838. He studied medicine in Lancaster and Philadelphia, and was graduated at the University of Pennsylvania in 1809. He began to practice in Manheim, Pennsylvania, and, after living for a short time in Lancaster, accepted a commission as surgeon of militia, serving at the battle at Baltimore in 1814.
