They are strong and sturdy. Internally, there is a previous owners signature on the front end page of both volumes. There is a robin castell sticker on the front pasted down of both volumes. Very good condition. The Second Volume of the Second Voyage of Captain Cook. Book III (from Ulietea to New Zealand) and Book IV (from leaving New Zealand to England) complete. Includes descriptions of the Friendly Isles, the New Hebrides, New Caledonia, New Zealand, etc. with a "Vocabulary of the Language of the Society Isles". The fifth volume of a longer series: "A Collection of Voyages and Travels , from the Discovery of America to the Commencement of the Ninetenth Century" Boards.

These are large books but no increase in postage in Australia. Originally published in London in 1777 this is a facsimile edition No. 191. Cook's account of the voyage performed in the ships Resolution and Adventure in the years 1772, 1773, 1774, and 1775 and includes Captain Furneaux's narrative of his proceedings in the Adventure during separation of the ships. Volume 1 - 377 pages with 36 plates including fold out maps and pictures.Volume 2 - 396 pages with 27 plates including fold out maps and pictures.Books are in near fine condition ex library with (for both) sticker inside front cover, a stamp on publishing page and back endpaper and reference code on spine. Title labels on spine are lifting, more so volume 1. Covers have some minor marks (see photos).
