The book measures 24cm tall x 15cm, and has 306 pages, 175 b/w photos, 2 drawings, 1 map. Printed from the UK plates this is the same size as 1st UK edition. This first edition is larger in size than the more common 1923 edition and later reprints. Covers have some diffuse rubbing, spine edges are rubbed and faded with a bit of fraying, the inside EP hinges have been taped (see photo), pages are clean and bright, no foxing anywhere in the book, binding is solid but partially cracked between a few gatherings (but holding well, not broken, text block is not loose or squishy), no writing or marks on any pages, no dampstaining, complete with all pages and plates including original frontis tissue, two pages roughly opened resulting is loss to the margin (no loss of text -- see photo), one plate has a small tear and loss to a corner tip (see photo).
