One of the most comprehensive texts written on marbling, designed by Joseph Simon and Lillian Marks. Included is a history of the craft in Japan, the Near East, Europe and America.

Upper board inset with an example of marbled paper (varies between copies). No jacket. Tipped-in colour frontispiece of Necmeddin style marbled flower from Turkey. Six illustrations of Suminagashi; illustrations of Elephant & Rider and a Mughal Princess; two pages of patterns (9 patterns per page); Examples of marbled papers tipped in between pages 66 and 67, these include: Beninagashi, Suminagashi, Hatip Ebru and Ebru.
