[Philadelphia: William Ross?], 1797. Disbound. Very Good binding. Octavo. 6, [2 (blank)] pp. Removed from volume. Contemporary ink signature above the title. A claim centered around a portion of $37,000 entrusted by Major Burnett in December 1780 under the direction of General Greene and seen to by the paymaster of the southern army. Monies changed hands, agents were involved, accounts were incorrectly debited, individuals died, and now, some 17 years on the mistaken charge is ordered reversed but Congress leaves it to others to decide if Mr. Hill is the rightful recipient of this money now that the owner of the original account is dead. A curious tale. Evans 32991; ESTC W25315.

[Washington]: [US House of Representatives], 1822. First Edition. Un-bound. Very good. Octavo, [1], 2-24pp. Folding chart laid-in. Un-bound; three unopened and untrimmed gatherings, which were likely to be side-stitched or bound into a larger volume, though this was never done. Very good; some foxing and marginal soiling, but a complete and generally clean example of this rare document of the claims made by Tennessee militia members who had fought against the Seimnole tribe in Florida under Andrew Jackson. A large folding chart is titled "Statement of the number of Tennessee Volunteer Mounted Gunmen in the service of the United States during the war against the Seminole Indians, from accounts filed in the office of the Second Auditor of the Treasury." OCLC records just three holdings, at the LOC, AAS, and Emory. Rare. Checklist of American Imprints…
