Coetzee's first work of fiction, originally published in South Africa in 1974, but published in the UK only after the critical success of two novels, In The Heart of the Country and Waiting For The Barbarians. About fine in very good+ dw due to the fading of the orange-colored dw on the spine and across the top edge of the front panel, a persistent problem with this dw.
