London: Sidgwick & Jackson Ltd, 1915. First British edition. Pamphlet. Pamphlet. First British edition. This early collection of poems was published in an edition of only 500 copies. This was Brooke's third appearance in print. A fine, fresh copy with the original printed mailing envelope whose flap has been strengthened by archival document tape. Brooke's lyrical poems were published shortly after his death in 1915 when he was shipping out to the battle of Gallipoli. The English nation lionized him for his unabashedly patriotic poem, "The Soldier" whose lines begin: "If I should die, think only this of me:/ That there's some corner of a foreign field/That is for ever England. There Shall be/ In that rich earth richer dust concealed/

Housed in Publisher's Very Good black cloth slipcase and black four flap enclosure. Slipcase has toning to spine label. Covers have creasing to both covers, bending to corners and edges, writing in pen on front cover, and slight tearing to tail edge of front cover.
