"Since the dawn of our history Barley-wine has been the 'naturall drinke' for an 'englysshe man,' and has had no unimportant influence on English life and manners. It is, therefore, somewhat curious that up to the present, amond the thousands of books published anually, no comprehensive work on the antiquities of ale and beer has found place." Interior pages toned. Boards clean. Dust wrapper heavily rubbed and chipped at edges. Covered in protective mylar.

A FACSIMILE reprinting of the 1889 of this rare and historic treatise on the history of beer and ale in home and tavern, daily use and festive drinking throughout English history. This copy in excellent apparently unread condition. A very tight, clean, unmarked volume whowing inevitable even light toning to the relatively cheap paper, but otherwise crisp, clean and vine in the dust jacket with the additional printed and wrap-around 3" wide extra price label. The dust jacket is also tight, crisp and clean but has just a couple of small edge nicks. Wrap around price label has a small faint round spot. Fine in near fine dust jacket and near fine wrap around label. Quite uncommon in this excellent condition..

This is a SCARCE copy ( one of only FIFTEEN) of a Benjamin Blom "Limited Edition Paperback " of this wonderful classic from the late 1800's. This copy is NEAR FINE. Tan paper label affixed to the spine with black lettering. Publisher's emblem in silver to the front of the silver/gray card board covers. Paper label has minimal chipping. Page edges with a couple of random smudges. Otherwise exterior is bright and clear. Inside is pristine. Also laid in are two publisher's cards. One defining this to be one of FIFTEEN: the other an information request post card. Obviously SCARCE as one of only 15. .
