Octavo (19 x 13 x 22cm), pp.[4] xvi; 429 [3]; pp.xiv; 415 [1]; pp.xiv; 567 [1]; pp. xiv; 522 [2]; pp.xiv; 252; 311 [1]; pp.x; 474 [2]. With occasional half-tone plates. Publisher's green cloth with gilt titles to spines. With the red, blue and white dust-jackets. Some spotting to edges and preliminaries, otherwise internally clean. Some jackets clipped and re-priced by the publisher. Jackets show varying degrees of toning to spines; Pride and Prejudice most heavily toned. Light to moderate wear to jackets, with a touch of minor chipping to edges. Very good. A fine edition compiled by the noted Austen scholar Robert William Chapman (1881-1960), containing all of Austen's famous novels, as well as extensive appendixes and addenda, and all the minor works such as Lady Susan, The Watsons, and Sanditon, first published thus in 1954.

Publisher's maroon cloth, gilt lettered to the spines and with a central gilt device to the upper boards. 6 frontispieces and 37 plates plus facsimile title pages and pages from other works. Some sunning and mostly light wear to the covers, slight spine slants, else a very good set. The Oxford Illustrated Austen, first published 1923, with Appendices concerning the characters, vocabulary and illustrations.

Publisher's gilt lettered and decorated limp red morocco, top edges gilt, differing early owner's names to the front of two volumes. Black and white illustrations. Some general edge wear, the head of Mansfield Park worn more than the others, else a decent set. Brock illustrated "Pride and Prejudice", Thomson the remainder.

Top edge gilt, fore-edge untrimmed. Illustrated with a total of 44 plates throughout the five volumes. A very near fine set, the bindings square and tight with a touch of uniform fading to the spines. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Third impression of the 1933 third edition, 'The text is the most authoritive yet published, and is never likely to be improved. Each volume contains type facsimiles of the original title-pages, notes, and various appendixes giving chronologies, indexes of characters' - Keynes.
