No dust jacket, covered in protective mylar.

The book had been rebound into red cloth boards, but the new binding eventually broke and the library determined that it could not be rebound. It was placed in a heavy cardboard box that is closed with ribbon ties. The pages of the book are mainly separated from the binding and tucked inside. Limited library markings, but no text markings noted.

[Paris]: Imp. Delâtre, 1880. Very good. An assortment of 24 heliogravures [17 1/2" x 12 1/4"] after the French designer Du Cerceau. A collection of stunning ornamental designs from this highly respected designer of French architecture. Jacques Androuet [1510 - circa 1585] is commonly referred to as Du Cerceau, from the sign on his father's Paris wine shop. According to the British Museum, he worked in Orléans, and was active in Paris from 1559. He fled from Paris around 1564 following the start of the Wars of Religion, as he was a Huguenot. He then settled in Montargis.

The drawings reproduced are in the British Museum in London. Apart from pages being loose in very good condition.

Cerceau, architect and engraver published Livre d'architecture in 1559, containing fifty models of residences for all classes of society and for all pocketbooks. The Second livre d'architecture published in 1561, contains motifs useful for the decoration of the interior and exterior parts of the house and the Third Livre d'architecture illustrates another thirty-eight residences. All three books are gathered here in facsimile including the original illustrations and pagination. Plain red cloth binding, spine stamped in gold, has light fading to spine andedge of front cover. Ownership name marked out on front and rear endpapers.
