Compellingly written narrative style enfolds understanding of our bodies and sheds light on why there is pain and why it is so unpleasant. With very few direct spiritual or Biblical comments, the writers offer great opportunities for the reader to apply spiritual truths. Although some of the images are distressing, it is a book non-Christians can read that may open their eyes to age-old emotional question: "If God is good and all-powerful, why is there pain?" There is a very practical section about factors that increase or decrease our experience of pain, particularly chronic pain. This is one of the most significant books I have ever read. I have already recommended this book to many people--pressing them to read my extra copy. (I make sure not to be without a copy.) This is one book that should come back into print.
