About This Item
Sarah Crichton Books, 2016. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Association copy, inscribed in the year of publication on the half-title page: "For you Dayton, This book comes to you with my love and gratitude for all the ways you have influenced the pages of this book. My love, Terry." Additionally signed and inscribed on title page with two lines: "Terry Tempest Williams, Breathing Spaces, these sacred lands, 16 Aug 16." Dayton Duncan is mentioned in the author's bio in this book as the writer behind the PBS series National Parks produced by Ken Burns, a series in which Terry Tempest Williams appeared, helping to inspire this book. In 1998, President Clinton appointed Duncan to chair of the American Heritage Rivers Advisory Committee and Secretary of Interior Bruce Babbitt appointed him as a director of the National Park Foundation. He's co-written and -produced many documentaries with Ken Burns. A fine copy even considering a couple slight bumps to lower boards. With a half jacket, a turquoise wrap around band, in fine condition.

About Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
