About Item: London: John Murray, 1860. Third edition 12mo with 298 pages. New preface by Galton dated 1859. Profusely illustrated with woodcuts. Bound in original reddish brown cloth with gold gilt titles on spine. Galton was a very unique tropical explorer, geographer, meterologist, geneticist, psychologist, statistician and eugenicist. This work was originally published in 1855. Rare in original publisher's cloth. The book is in good to fair condition with 1 1/2" tear to top edge of spine. Two small (1/2") tears to top and bottom of spine. All hinges are strong and intact. Some signatures loose but all very intact. A wonderful historic relic from the days of exploration.. 3rd Edition. Cloth. Good/No DJ As Issued. 12mo. Hardcover.
