Novel set in a small English village, about an eccentric woman who is ridiculed by the community for her "dreamlike ideals and her passionate sympathy for every unhappy creature." When she befriends the village fool, their tolerance of her turns to suspicious hatred. Preface by Ethel Mannin, who compares the author with Dostoevsky and lauds the book for its "violent, savage poetry and beauty of its own." .
