Two volumes bound in one, first editions, 8vo, (iv), ix-xv, (i), 342 pp, with 16 folding plates; (iv), 54 pp, 31 folding plates. A few spots and some faint browning, neat repair to tear on plate IX in the second work, contemporary signatures of James Frampton (?of the Dorset Yeomanry Cavalry) and Ralph Baxter (?6th Dragoons) to the respective fly leaves of each work. Both volumes uncut in the original boards, edges rubbed, neatly rebacked at different times, the first work with a modern printed label, the second with the original label preserved. Detailed works listing the various commands and providing guidance on how they should be carried out. In his short preface to the Instructions, Fawcett writes that "every Officer of Cavalry shall be provided with a Copy of these Regulations, and the Commanding Officers of Corps are to take Care that this Order be duly observed".
