London: Heinemann, 1958. This First Edition is in Near-Fine condition, with a Near-Fine unclipped dust jacket. (See photo). It is probably the definitive work on two of England's most norious serial killers, John George Haigh and John Reginald Halliday Christie. Haigh liked to give his victims a bath in sulphuric acid to make them vanish, while Christie preferred planting them in the garden of his house at 10 Rillington Place. The author, incidentally, was the private secretary to Dr. Keith Simpson, the Home Office pathologist. Thus she had first-hand access to evidence as these cases developed. The book has black cloth covers with silver spine lettering. The bindings are tight and secure, and the text pages are clean bright. There is a small stamp on the front free endpaper of the orignal owner. The unclipped dust jacket (the book sold originally for 21 shillings) has only light shelf wear.
