London: John Murray, 1966. This is the first British edition, translated from the French by Frances Partridge, and published by John Murray, London. (The original French edition was awarded the Prix Guizot by the Academie Francaise.) The book is in close to Fine condition with a close to Fine non-price clipped dust jacket. The book is bound in a light green paper over boards that has some light spine-tip rubbing. It is tightly bound, clean and sparkling throughout, with no marks or tears. The dust jacket has some light edge rubbing and one small closed tear. I've placed the dust jacket into an archival Brodart protective sleeve. The book contains nine illustations, mainly photographs. The real Arthur Conan Doyle was as much a mystery as any that his fictional sleuth Sherlock Holmes solved.
