About Item: Bath, England: Richard Cruttwell, 1818. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Ernest Longfellow (his son). Sacra Privata - The Private Meditations and Prayers of the Right Reverend Thomas Wilson, D.D." A FORE-EDGE PAINTED book printed in Bath, England by Richard Cruttwell in 1818 and bound in gilt-stamped green leather, with six compartments on the spine, gilt dentelles on the leather turn-ins, all edges gilt. The fore-edge is finely painted, and depicts a river in the Holy Land. Thomas Wilson was Bishop of Sodor and Man between 1697 and 1755. There is a gilt-stamped green leather "bookplate" on the inside cover showing Jane Rowley 1818. This may be Jane Fuller Rowley (1736-1819) of Connecticut. Please view the photographs.
