Rarity approaching ninety years in existence. Butternut (greyish brown) full cloth boards, navy stamped cover and spine titles, moderate shelf, edge wear, bow. Deckled pages generally very good, some yellowed adhesive residue, toning at endpapers; no writing. Bind good, moderate offset to front endpapers; hinges intact. Scarce original wrapper, some shelf wear, rub, toning; unclipped 3.00, protected in new clear sleeve. Adhesive and dried residue remains to front and back flaps. Front panel states: Thirty-six Printings... 1,303,000 copies" and quote from New York Times: "In sheer readability it is surpassed by nothing in American fiction!".
