A two-volume set offering the complete wood-engraved illustrations of Ludwig Richter (1803-1884). Mr. Richter was also a painter and etcher. His work was widely published in Germany, typically showing domestic scenes of family or country life; also accompanying well-known works such as the Bible or writings of Goethe, Schiller or the Brothers Grimm. This work is in the German language, including all captions for the approximately 2600 woodcuts displayed. With an introduction by Wolf Stubbe. --- In textured red paper-covered boards with gilt-stamped spine titling.
