Bender (1866-1941), an influential book collector and patron of the arts in San Francisco who supported artists such as Ansel Adams and Diego Rivera, printed by the inimitable Grabhorn Press. The text is reprinted from the San Francisco News of 11 January 1938, written by John Barry.
