'Confused Mhlaba' by the impossibly talented Mqayisa was first published in 1974 (of which edition this is a copy) and was almost instantly comprehensively banned by the apartheid government. Despite appeal, the play, which was hardly incendiary, remained banned. A few years later Mqayisa himself was banned. The play is now regarded as a centrepiece of black writing from the darkest days of apartheid. The covers of this copy are a little worn and scuffed from handling. They are secure and comfortable.
