Description:
Belgium: Credit Cummunal, 1996. Hardback. 127pp. Publisher's original blue cloth binding with gilt titles to upper board and spine. Dust jacket in a protective sleeve. The Wittockiana Library in Brussels is based on the personal collection of the former entrepreneur and bibliophile, Michael Wittock. This collection reflects Michael Wittock's personal interest in the art of the book and in bookbinding with many superb examples of the art from the Renaissance onwards. There are also some beautiful bindings from the Art Nouveau/Art Deco period. The collection was donated to the King Baudoin Fondation. NB - text in French. Lavishly illustrated with lots of colour photographs, many showing the art of fine bookbinding. Book in very good condition. Very slight toning to page edges. Dust jacket very good and unclipped. Minor surface marking and minimal edge wear.
