Wells first believed that dew and frost were the causes of air that was a few degrees colder than the ground. He began to experiment and changed his theory when he realized that a combination of temperature, temperature change, and heat being conducted by various materials on the ground caused the condensate that resulted in dew or frost. vi, 152 pp. 8vo.
