The five volumes bound uniformly, the fourth volume being a 5th ed, published in 1791. The author, was Professor of Chemistry at Cambridge, later the Bishop of Llandaff. It is said that Samuel Johnson when travelling by carriage was 'chiefly occupied in reading Dr Watson's second volume of Chemical essays, which he liked very well'. Various. Half leather.
