Sampson Low, Marston and Company, 1891. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. An early edition (reprint), complete with all plates. With a small repair to the front hinge. The boards are very shelf rubbed, edge worn and marked, with fraying along the edges and slight damage to the bottom of the spine. Despite this, the boards remain sturdy and intact. Internally, there is a previous owner's signature under the front board along with tanning and faint pencil markings to the front end page. Heavily toned to edges, margins and preliminaries, with a distinct tobacco scent. Light rubbing and toning to boards, with some light bumping to corners. Original spine very heavily worn and toned, with the decoration largely obscured. Restored to a robust and useable condition. Very good.
