Vol. I: 327 p., clean and unmarked anywhere; deckle edges; frontis. photo with tanned tissue guard: "Mr. Roosevelt and one of his big lions;" drawings by Philip R. Goodwin from photographs and from descriptions furnished by Mr. Roosevelt;" back gutter cracking but binding firm and volume square. Probably issued without d.j., and corners are bumped with a bit of rubbing at spine. Brown leather-look boards have raised lettering and gilt repoussee lion head on front board; gilt lettering on patch on spine. Vol. II: pp.329-675, immaculate and unmarked, but tissue guard in front of frontis. ill. of white rhino is tanned; binding firm--gutters are not cracked; boards match those of Vol. I--there is slight bumping of corners and some rubbing along spine.
