III with 1888 on copyright page. Many fold-outs, a couple with short tears. Complete browning to label on spines. .

PHILADELPHIA: PORTER & COATES Book. Fair to Good. Hardcover. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Burgundy hardcover set with paper spine title and chocolate endpapers. The copyright dates for this four volume set are 1875, 1876, 1883 and 1888. Fair to good minus condition due to the covers, with nice text blocks and clean pages. Some with several fold-outs. The rear cover on volume I is present and detached. And along with volume I, the inner joints on volume II are heavily cracked at the gutter edge. Volume III has an outer two inch crack at the top front spine edge. Volume IV appears to be in the best shape overall with a light surface crack at the front cover. The covers are soiled with some corner tip bumps, rubbing and/or light scratches. Art Club of Philadelphia Library bookplate at the front pastedown (inside cover) with a tiny black crest showing it was incorporated in 1887. It denoted this set was numbers 5-8 on Case R-2. Very good copies. 1875. 1st. hardcover. 8vo, 3018 pp., Complete in four volumes; published between 1875 and 1888., Volumes I, II & III are a uniform blue cloth with bright spines; Volume IV is a darker blue cloth with marbled edgesand the spine is faded (the title page lists the same publisher as the earlier volumes, but the spine indicates "Winston" as the publisher). The folding maps are all present and clean, but the one in Volume IV is laid-in loose, having been cleanly removed by a previous owner. Some hinges are partially cracked,but all are holding tight. Tiny nicks at spine tips. Overall, a respectable set. .
