Overall Very Good, sound. It would seem a sign of the times that we might now describe some of the "Marvels" detailed in this book as the "Old West". However, in 1887, the lands west of the Missouri still held the promise of adventure and discovery, as well as opportunity. This book, containing six volumes, covers the marvels of nature, race, enterprise, mining, stock-raising, and agriculture. Publisher’s deluxe embossed & decorated full maroon-coloured calf over beveled boards, decorated endpapers, marbled fore-edges, decorative gilt lettering stamped on front cover & spine (very slight edgewear, rubbing, ever-so-slight bumping to couple corners), still a NF fresh copy from the library of Caroline Augusta Gray Kamm (1840-1932), noted socialite and philanthropist in Portland, built home for poor women & girls with the YWCA, and was daughter of PNW pioneer William H.
