London, Sampson Low Marston & Co., & J. C. Juta & Co. (SA.) 1898 1st. Hardback, 9 x 5.5 inches. Red cloth with gilt lettering to spine and front, with gilt portrait design to front. In good condition. Cover with some overall rubbing and fading. Small nicks to cloth at spine ends. Endpapers darkened. Lacks prelim/halftitle at front. (All plates complete). Pages with some tanning and occasional handling marks, edges rough-cut. Thin water stain to top edges of plates, and on leading edge to a few plates near rear. Small tear to map at inner corner, else overall clean and bright. Else a clean and tight copy. xvi + 248pp. Illustrated with many full-page B&W plates including photographs, and a fold-out coloured map at rear.
