Hardcover.  Brown boards decorated in gilt on front cover and spine strip, soiled and shelfworn with wear along beveled edges, spine ends and edge points. Internally clean, free of previous owners marks or signatures. Paper throughout slightly age-toned but clean.  The binding is tight but both hinges, front and rear, have cracked.

Clean and VG+ in its russet cloth, with lovely pictorial gilt-design and titling along the front panel and spine. Abrading and wear at the inner hinges (which are both still perfectly strong), a touch of light scuffing to the front panel and former owner name and date (1879) to the first blank endpaper. Octavo, almost 3 dozen engravings complementing Frederick Ober's text.
