Brown coated endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a wood-engraved frontispiece and with several wood-engraved plates and numerous in-text illustrations. Burke and Howe 450-451. Myers was a Professor of History at the University of Cincinnatti. This volume is a compendium of his travels. He records observations and illustrations of Palmyra, an important ancient historical site (which has now been largely destroyed), Damascus, Baghdad, the Tigris river, ruins and the palace in Cashmere, the Taj Mahal, Assyrian and Babylonian archaeological materials, and an examination of British Imperialism in India.
