An uncommon booklet containing a dialogue written by Richard Monckton Milnes for a single performance at Nuneham. This uncommon volume contains a dialogue written by Richard Monckton Milnes for a single performance at Nuneham. The play was dedicated to Frances Waldegrave, who was a theatre enthusiast who hosted many parties at her home in Nuneham. Monckton translated and adapted the dialogue from Alfred De Musset's proverb 'il faut q'une porte soit ouverte ou fermee', which roughly translates to 'a door must be open or closed'. Milnes was an English poet, patron of literature, and politician who strongly supported social justice and women's rights. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, very smart.
