No interior illustrations Bit of chipping to jacket spine. Small pieace out of back cover. All four flaps are clipped. Tail of spine and corners of boards are bumped. Originally titled "The Circular Staircase" when it was published in 1908, it was adapted and renamed as a play performed in 1920 and a silent film was done in 1926. This work is said to be the inspiration for Batman.

Near fine bright copy with a trace of edge wear in a very good slightly dust soiled dust jacket with a few mends by an expert paper conservationist. The front panel of the dust jacket is a striking design of the shadow of a bat.
