The cloth cover is lightly soiled; the spine has faded; the rear hinge is split. There is light foxing on the interior pages, heavier foxing on the fore-edges. Contents fine. Mackenzie served in Section V Intelligence, Athens 1916. This book was violently contradicted by his superior, Basil Thomson; Mackenzie was prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act for the 1932 First Edition, which was suppressed and is very scarce.

London: Cassell,, 1932. Proof copy of the Mackenzie's controversial account of his service in Greece during WWI. Part of an autobiographical sequence, this volume was withdrawn from publication on account of its revelations about the workings and personnel of Britain's wartime intelligence service, and Mackenzie was prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act in a "frequently farcical" trail at the Old Bailey (ODNB). Copies of the briefly published edition are uncommon, a proof copy inevitably the more so. Original printed manilla paper wrappers. Wrappers a little rubbed and soiled, some chipping head and tail of the spine, embossed printer's ticket of Ebenezer Baylis & Son to the front panel, inked initials to the back, mild lean, half title a tad soiled, some dog-earing, pale marginal browning, overall very good.
