(15538). Octavo, boards. The first book to use the Ross Macdonald pseudonym, dropping the John (as John Ross Macdonald), to put some distance with John D. Macdonald. Bruccoli A 12.1. Ross Macdonald is widely considered to be one of the three most important American mystery authors. He is praised for his contributions to the genre of detective fiction, namely for the sophistication and linguistic style he brought to the literature. A beautiful copy of an early Lew Archer novel. A Near Fine book with a touch of rubbing to the bottom edges of the boards and a minute lean; jacket is Near Fine with a bit of toning to the bottom of the rear panel.
