Minneapolis: University of Minnesota China Center, 1992. The Jewish presence in China dates at least back to the Tang Dynasty. Jews were early settlers in several major Chinese centers; a major concentration of these immigrants, mostly of the merchant class, resided in Kaifeng, a community that survived there for several centuries.
