Its inspiration. therefore. was nostalgia and memories. instead of the surging life of his native environment which would have enabled these slight five thousand lines to carry with more strength the growth and the spirit of three generations in Burma. In offering the present result to readers outside Burma. he would have them be guided by the weighty verdict of his solemn friend U.
