This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First Edition, which was LIMITED to 1000 copies, plus 29 that were signed by Joyce and his daughter. Soft-cover, printed on Old Antique Dutch laid paper, with an integral dust wrapper. Silver and blue cover design by Lucia., who also designed an initial letter and tail-piece. Clean text; 77 pages, very fresh and bright. There are some issues, however. The front cover is present but is no longer attached; the cover itself has some staining; the lettering on the spine is rubbed with a small bit of loss to the letters Nick, And, & The. Original printed cover acts as dust jacket; an excellent, clean copy, uncut. First edition number 785 of 1000 copies printed on Old Antique Dutch paper. As stated in the title, this is a fragment of a work in progress; that work would ultimately be published as Finnegans wake, which was first printed in 1939. A number of fragments from Finnegans wake were printed over the yearsLucia (1907-1982), a professional dancer, was diagnosed as a schizophrenic, and was hospitalized by the time this book appeared. She was later institutionalized for the remainder of her life.

Spine a little faded but a lovely copy in the slightly defective slipcase. A beautiful piece of Dutch book production, with Lucia's characteristic illustrations. Prints a famous section of Finnegans Wake (the known as Work In Progress).
