London: The Royal Horticultural Society, 1955. 1st Edition. Buckram. Very Good. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. 160pp. A super copy. Beautifully illustrated with 14 full page fine coloured plates including a frontispiece as called for. Also contains numerous other b/w plates and drawings in the text. Fold out map to the rear of the book. Gilt embosssed lettering to the front board and gilt embossed lettering to the leather title block on the spine. The title block has slight loss to the edges, though the lettering remains clear and complete. Slight mottling to the spine and slight rubbing to the corners and edges of the boards. No inscriptions. Large book mark with a glossary of botanical terms listed on it, still attached to the head of the spine by a cloth page divider. A few creases to two corners of the book mark and a soil mark to the tail of the book mark. Two creases to the top corner of the front end paper.
