Brown board with no legible lettering. The front cover and front cover page are completely separated. The cover is very heavily worn with chips and tears. It appears that the book has had some water damage. Th rest of the binding is loose but intact.

Internally end-pages are age-toned/foxed with a previous owners name inked to 2nd free end-page as well as top of title page, and an additional ink mark to title page, covering part of title. Otherwise, pages are age-toned within text area but with brighter margins. The binding is tight and hinges intact. A good solid copy.

John Churchman was an 18th-century Quaker minister of whom every little is known today. However, while his published writings were few, one important known work was "An Account of the Gospel Labours". This book was simply an autobiography of his life and ministry in and around Nottingham, Pennsylvania. The events of his ministry, however, are not the primary draw of this work – this work is a reliable, first-hand account of pre-Revolutionary America and includes his and other Quakers interactions with Native American Indians.
