Binding and text block are otherwise tight, bright, and clean with no ownership markings or bookplates. Bound In full (genuine) leather with hubbed spine. Embossed in 22kt gold on the spine and front and back covers. Heavy duty binding boards. Printed on acid-neutral, archival paper with gilded edges. Smyth sewn with concealed muslin joints, silk moire fabric end leaves, and permanent satin ribbon marker. Notes From The Archives sheet laid in. Signed limited edition of Ibsen's fantasy play of goblins and fairies based upon a traditional Norwegian fairy tale, one of only 460 copies signed by Rackham. Rackham had a particular talent for creating fantastical creatures like fairies and goblins, making PEER GYNT an excellent choice for his interpretations. This is one of the more scarce Rackham limited editions. 10.25'' x 7.75''. Original full gilt-stamped vellum. In original slipcase with limitation number matching book. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut, pictorial endpapers. Illustrated by Rackham with 12 color plates, plus numerous fanciful black-and-white images. 256, [1] pages. Signed by Rackham on the limitation page. Slipcase a bit soiled and rubbed. Natural discoloration of vellum, faint abrasion on front board near title. Spots of toning to fly leafs where tape once was, now removed. Vellum unbowed and unbumped, interior clean.
