Discusses the artist's life and work, with emphasis on his Fauvist drawings from 1895-1912, with more than a hundred illustrations of examples. Includes selected work by other artists as well, including Siebe J. ten Cate, Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen, Martinus Schildt, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, J. C. W.
