In addition to important works on epidemiology, Thomas Hancock (1783-1849) here wrote the primary source for the events of the "Scullabogue Massacre" during the Irish rebellion of 1798. Somewhere between 100 and 200 suspected "loyalists" were killed by the Wexford rebels. Sadly, many of the victims were Quakers, who did not carry arms and had ministered charity to both sides. First published in 1829, this is a Very Good copy of a Later Printing. An uncommon title. Green cloth binding, decoratively stamped with a floral design; titled in gilt on the front cover as "Hancock on Peace." Clean text; 108 pages. Toning and scattered spotting to the textblock, which remains perfectly readable.
